Slavic Vampires
This includes most East Europeans, from Bulgaria right through to Russia, Serbia through to Poland. They have some of the most detailed, traditional and richest Vampire folklore, tales, myths and legends in the world. Almost as soon as the Slavics arrived in there present homelands.

The Slavic Vampire tales originated during the 9th century as a result of conflict between pagans and Christians. Christianity won out, with the pagan beliefs of Vampires surviving in mythology.

There were many ways of becoming a Vampire, these included strange circumstances of death, being conceived on a certain day, being buried incorrectly, being bitten by another Vampire etc, etc. Ways to stop people becoming a Vampire included piercing the body with stakes and thorns, putting a crucifix in the coffin, scattering seeds over the body.

As well as the preventative methods, there were several ways of killing, or destroying a Vampire. these include, being staked, decapitation burning the body, exorcism, sprinkling Holy Water on the grave etc.

Signs that a Vampire needed dealing with in the neighborhood would of often included livestock such as cattle being found dead. Dead people found, or exhumed bodies found in a lifelike state with new growth of fingernails and hair, blood found around the mouth. There were other ways as well...
